What’s your Wordle?

I have JUST discovered what a Wordle is. Well, actually I have seen these beautiful word clouds around for ages but just thought they were a design style. I never realised that there was an online tool that allowed you to create your very own Wordle. And.. it… is… AMAZING!!!

Saying I LOVE this tool is no understatement. It is fab-u-lous!!!

I did a search on google for “what’s a wordle” and cam across this great post. I loved the comparison between Michell Obama’s speech and Sarah Palin’s. So I found the Wordle tool online and decided to input my bio into it (the bio I use for my website and all my speaking gigs or anything else that needs a bio).

This, with a little customisation of fonts and colours (you can’t change the words once the Wordle has been created) is my BIO wordle:

Isn’t it ...

What to do when you’re suffering from Christmas stress….

You WILL enjoy yourself this time of year, and make sure everyone else does, even if you have to half kill yourself to do it…..

Yeah, that makes sense. Off you go.

Regardless of your religion – or whether you even have one – Christmas time brings about a change to our daily lives – and it starts about November 1st. Joy be to all – yes and we have to put up with it for longer and longer every year.

Don’t get me wrong – I LOVE CHRISTMAS! I really do. I love the excitement and anticipation of it all – both as a kid and a big kid with little ones of my own now. I love the socialness of Christmas – the thought of getting together with people you might not have seen all year due to the pace of every day life. And I love the carols, the fayres, the decorations and the giving of presents. I love it all.

But I DON’T love it – for 7 weeks before the day itself. I DON’T love the pressure to buy all the latest gadgets and toys. I DON’T love the commerciality of it all, I DON’T love chocolate advent calendars (what happened to the excitement of the different pictures each day and the countdown being enough?) and I certainly DON’T love the putting up of decorations before 13th December. So yes I guess you could say I’m a Christmas purist. And that means I am determined to enjoy myself this time of year despite it being rammed down throat for sooooooo long – and I will do it without the stress.

Do frogs drive you bonkers?

I came across this post today….  I was, for some reason unbeknownst to me, searching on the keywords “why frogs are bonkers” and this little gem came up. Written in an obviously serious way – I just could not help but laugh my head off. I don’t know why, perhaps it was the bit about the way to get rid of frogs being SNAKES!  LOL.  So here you go….

Men Vs Women

I got sent this in one of those chain type emails and thought it was soooo funny (even though I am a woman) that I had to share it with you.  Here goes:

  • If Laura, Kate and Sarah go out for lunch, they will call each other Laura, Kate and Sarah.
  • If Mike, Dave and John go out, they will affectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Godzilla and Four-eyes.

  • When the bill arrives, Mike, Dave and John will each throw in £20, even though it’s only for £32.50. None of them will have anything smaller and none will actually admit to wanting any change back.
  • When the girls get their bill, out come the pocket calculators.

  • A man will pay £2 for a £1 item he needs.
  • A woman will pay £1 for a £2 item that she doesn’t need but it’s ...

Aren’t kids just so honest and innocent?

I came across these little pearls of wisdom from children and just had to share…

JACK (age 3) was watching his Mom breast-feeding his new baby sister. After a while he asked: ‘Mom why have you got two? Is one for hot and one for cold milk?’

MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so old she didn’t remember any more. Melanie said, ‘If you don’t remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six.’

BRITTANY (age 4) had an ear ache and wanted a pain killer. She tried in vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a child-proof cap and she’d have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: ‘How does it know it’s me?’

CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried When his M...

A new way to tell time

Since my last post I have become slightly addicted to Twitter.  In just one week I have gained 71 followers and am following 73 people myself; I have been interviewed for a twitter blog and have gained one new client.  I have done 152 tweets (or updates) – that’s about 19 a day and read a whole lot more… I am really enjoying it and have even set up a “why I love Twiter” blog at

picture-1There are lots of things I love about Twitter and I have really taken to it. One of the many things I have read and discovered on Twitter is something that is a little bit different and not business related at all but it is ever so cool: a polar clock screensaver for pc/mac and a mac widget.

The polar clock makes a stunning screensaver and is a new way to tell the time...

Making it short and tweet with Twitter

I have known about Twitter for some time, I think I first heard about it last July or August but didn’t really look into it as I was expecting my second baby and had a lot on my plate.short-and-tweet1

But it is becoming kind of hard to ignore. Lots of people I know are using it, lots of people I know are writing about it, so I thought I would join in.

Except, I think everyone is taking it a little too seriously. I’m definitely not saying it isn’t a great tool – it is!  But it is just another one in the series of online social media tools that have come online in the last 12 months and really taken off.

I actually LOVE Twitter.  I think it is a really great way to stay in touch with people that doesn’t make it a full-time occupation to do so (although I know some people like Stephen Fry are completely addicted!).
